Curious about translation, but want to make it FUN?

Why not join us and learn about J-E media translation! If you’ve studied Japanese and love Japanese media, then this type of translation is for you. In this interactive session on August 9th, you’ll get a hands-on introduction to the world of Japanese media translation, which includes subbing, dubbing, and much more! You’ll also take part in a mini trial lesson to see what it’s really like. We can’t wait to show you just how exciting and diverse this field really is.

At JVTA, we offer one of the only year-long programs dedicated to Japanese-to-English media translation. This seminar is a great way to find out if it’s right for you.

In the first half, we’ll explain what media translation involves and where the current demand is. In the second half, you’ll dive into mini subtitling exercises and learn some of the foundational techniques that professionals use. JLPT N2 or higher is recommended to get the most out of the exercises, but no JLPT level is required to join and enjoy the seminar.

Jessi Nuss (J-E Course Director and Instructor at JVTA)

Originally from California in the US, Jessi oversees the content and management of JVTA’s Japanese-to-English Media Translation Course, and is also involved in teaching classes and seminars related to J-E media translation. A longtime Japanese pop culture enthusiast, she loves the challenge that J-E media translation presents, and sharing the fun of it with students at JVTA.
