JVTA’s Japanese-to-English Media Translation Course starts in April 11th, 2023!
The Japan Visualmedia Translation Academy’s Japanese-to-English Media Translation Course begins April 11th, 2023. If you’re interested in learning more about our program, be sure to check out our J-E Media Translation and School Orientation video, which can be watched on-demand! (Please note that watching the School Orientation, whether it is part of our Open School event, or through this on-demand video, is a prerequisite to signing up at JVTA.)
Your host is our school’s Japanese-to-English Course director Jessi Nuss. She explains the current state of the J-E media translation industry and tells you all about the J-E Media Translation Course offered at JVTA. About This On-Demand Introduction Video
Part 1
A Guide to the World of J-E Media Translation: Learn about current trends in the J-E media translation industry
In this section, you’ll learn about the fundamental skills needed to become a Japanese-to-English visual media translator as well as the current state and trends of the industry. Questions like “What kind of job is media translation?” “What skills are needed to do this type of translation?” “What kind of work is out there?” will all be answered in this video.
Part 2
School Orientation
Here, you will learn about the J-E course and its curriculum. JVTA provides a system that supports students from the time they start their studies and continues until after graduation.

-Translation experience NOT required.
-No requisites for Japanese level.
*As long as you have a computer, tablet, or other device, as well as a stable internet connection that allows you to stream the video, you’re welcome to sign up for access!

After signing up for and watching this introduction video, you also have the option of participating in a J-E media translation trial lesson to get a better feel for the skills required for our translation course. There are two ways to join a trial lesson:
1.Online Open School
This event includes a Media Industry Seminar, J-E and E-J subtitling trial lessons, and a School Orientation. However, it is possible to ONLY participate in the J-E subtitling trial lesson portion.
